Mary Sue Schwab

Mary Sue is a critically acclaimed artist residing in Bloomington, Indiana.  She is a Special Merit Award winner and received special recognition awards in the “Light Space and Time” 2018 Figurative Art Competition, and won second place in the painting category of the 2018 Botanical Art Competition of Light Space and Time. Other awards include a special recognition award in the 2018 Animal Competition, the 2017 Botanical Art Exhibition for her painting “Magnificent Hydrangeas” and “Perfect Peonies”. Her painting “Willa the Bunny” was Special Merit Award in the 2017 Animals Art Exhibition. 

Mary Sue specializes in commissioned portraits of homes, historic locations, children, pets and is a private art instructor for children, teens and adults. She has worked as a professional graphic designer, art instructor and storyboard artist. Mary Sue and her husband enjoy traveling and painting.

Mary Sue attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati and Edgecliff College. She has taken many courses and attended numerous workshops at the Art Student’s League of New York. She is also a member and the Garden State Watercolor Society, Bloomington Watercolor Society, and a member of the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association.
“My father was my first art teacher,” Mary Sue says. “I remember on vacations, he would pull out his old worn palette, and I watched as the water and palm trees magically appeared on the page. He taught me the value and joy of expressing one’s self through painting and drawing.”
