Kathy Truelove BartonKathy captures a “spirit of place” in the paintings she is creating of Central and Southern Indiana. Kathy enjoys painting and photographing landscapes and structures. She paints outdoors with the Upland Plein Air Painters and the Bloomington Watercolor Society. She uses the photographs as reference to support her painting work. By using referenced detail to complete the field work, the images come to life.
Truelove-Barton was a member of Flowing Colors Studio based in Bloomington, Indiana, from October 2015 through December, 2017. As a studio member, she participated in The Bloomington Open Studios Tour 2017 as one of the five artists. See www.BloomingtonOpenStudiosTour2017.com/Artists/KathyBarton. She is currently painting both plein air and in a studio in her home, which is open by appointment. “Two highlights in 2019 were a retreat to Parke County, IN and the boyhood home of T. C. Steele, near Waveland, Indiana, with other Upland Plein Air Painters, where I created the painting “New Growth.”. And a paint out at Cataract Falls Recreation Area where I created the painting titled “Spirit of the Falls,” near the site of the old grist mill.“ Kathy uses travel, museums, observation and art videos, to advance her work. Her love of art, travel and nature reinforce each other. Kathy has participated in many Bloomington Watercolor Society member shows; exhibited at the Venue Bloomington, Brown County Art Guild, French Lick Hotel, and Flowing Colors Studio, Bradley Education Center at Wylie House in Bloomington as well as the Vault at Gallery Mortgage Company. |
